GENERAL PROJECT INFORMATION
The objective of the project is to support the establishment and development of social enterprises, to increase employment opportunities for population groups at risk of social exclusion, as well as to strengthen the sustainability of the social enterprise ecosystem and promote the overall development of social entrepreneurship.
To achieve this, support will be provided to social enterprises in the form of financial grants, reimbursement of the employer’s share of mandatory state social insurance contributions, one-time wage compensations, and reimbursement of sickness benefits paid by the employer. The project also aims to facilitate the integration of people at risk of social exclusion into the labour market.
The project is implemented by the Ministry of Welfare in cooperation with the Development Finance Institution Altum, which provides advisory support and allocates financial grants to social entrepreneurs, including start-ups in social entrepreneurship. The implementation of the project is planned until the end of 2029, while Altum will issue financial grants to social enterprises until the available project funding is exhausted.
PROJECT PROGRESS INFORMATION
The project has been implemented since October 2023.
To date, a total of 107 social enterprises have received support, including 87 that have been awarded financial grants by Altum, and 20 that have received reimbursement of the employer’s share of mandatory state social insurance contributions from the Ministry of Welfare.
In addition, 241 people at risk of social exclusion have been integrated into the labour market and are currently employed by social enterprises.
