On August 29 and 30 of this year, a practical skills event took place in Ilūkste for employees of the Ministry of the Interior and their family members, titled "How to Act in Emergency and Crisis Situations?"
The event was organized with the support of the European Union and the Society Integration Fund, with the goal of providing knowledge and skills for acting in emergency and crisis situations, thereby promoting the psychological and physical resilience of the participants.
Each of us is a part of society and a part of our country. Therefore, organizing such training is vital for educating Latvian society as a whole, especially young people, in the context of national defense during modern geopolitical challenges. The knowledge gained and solidified through practice during the event is an invaluable asset in the daily life of every participant. These hands-on skills increase a participant's ability to help any member of society in emergency and crisis situations.
For Ministry of the Interior employees, this practical skills event is related to their job duties and serves as a supplement to the organized training on how to act in crisis situations. At the same time, it is important for the Ministry of the Interior, as an employer that cares about professional, motivated, and development-oriented employees, to be a family-friendly workplace. This helps implement family-friendly work organization practices and promotes a family-friendly attitude in society.
The acquisition of practical and theoretical knowledge was carried out in cooperation with:
representatives from the Youth Guard Centre;
mountaineer, rescuer, and team trainer Andžejs Reiters;
Zane Ločmele, administrative manager of "Krāslava District Partnership" and representative of the Civil Protection Commission of Krāslava municipality.
The Ministry of the Interior expresses its gratitude to the event participants and cooperation partners for their contributions and for providing knowledge on how to act in crisis and emergency situations, as well as for promoting an overall understanding of security aspects.
This project is a clear example of the importance of the European Union's investment. By funding such events, the EU not only supports the training of employees and their families but also strengthens our country's security as a whole. Knowing how to act in a crisis is an invaluable skill that can save lives and reduce panic. It shows that EU funding is not just abstract numbers, but practical benefits that directly impact our daily safety and well-being. It is an investment in our future.
The practical skills event "How to Act in Emergency and Crisis Situations?" for employees of the Ministry of the Interior and their family members was funded by the European Union. The event was held within the framework of the European Social Fund Plus project "Creating a Family-Friendly Environment and Society," project number 4.3.6.9/1/24/I/001.
