Progress of the EU co-funded project

Progress of the EU co-funded project "Automated Border Surveillance Infrastructure" from April 1 to June 30, 2025

Ministry of the Interior

From April 1 to June 30, 2025, work on the EU co-funded project "Automated Border Surveillance Infrastructure" progressed as planned, achieving significant advancements in the construction of the state's eastern border technological infrastructure.

Currently, construction is actively continuing in the project's first phase. In this approximately 68 km long section, 46% of engineering networks have already been built, 24% of technological infrastructure elements (including video surveillance poles and distribution cabinets) have been installed, and 31% of data transmission systems have been set up. This work is being carried out based on the previously completed design phase.

Concurrently, construction also began in May on the second phase – an approximately 18 km long section where design work has already concluded. Here too, work is progressing gradually, creating a unified, modern, and technologically advanced surveillance system along the entire Latvia-Belarus border.

The project significantly improves the effectiveness of state border surveillance and response capabilities, strengthens cooperation among the involved services, and at the same time makes a substantial contribution to the protection of the European Union's external border.
