This year the Ministry of Transport (MoT) invites everyone to stop by and engagage in the activities organised by MoT at the Conversation festival LAMPA, which will take place on June 20-21 in Cesis. All road users who have opinions and ideas about safe mobility, comfort and public transport accessibility, as well as an interest to learn more about digital safety, are welcome at Maija Park. On Saturday at 13:00, the festival visitors will also have the opportunity to discuss transport-related issues with Atis Švinka, the Minister of Transport.
The first day, June 20, will be dedicated to the topic of safety. In cooperation with experts, visitors will be invited to create their own set of activities that could help improve traffic safety and reduce the number of serious injuries and fatalities in road traffic accidents. There will also be an opportunity to share personal experiences and explain one’s views on most effective methods that could change driving behavior – education and awareness or penalties. Safety is also critical in rail transport and the digital environment – these topics will be open for discussion with industry experts as well.
The second day, June 21, will focus on other important transport topics – convenience and accessibility. At the workshop “Station 2.0/Mobility Points,” visitors will learn more about the EU-funded program “Station 2.0”. Participants will have the chance to build their ideal model of a mobility point. In a discussion on accessibility, attendees will be encouraged to evaluate whether public transport has become more accessible to everyone, especially people with mobility impairments. In discussions with representatives of the organization “Sustento” and industry experts, visitors will learn about the work and future plans of the Advisory Council for Mobility Equality and Accessibility.
On both days of the festival, visitors will be able to get acquainted with the projects in the transport sector implemented with EU funding and participate in activities to safely understand the risks of alcohol impairment and crash scenarios.
Partners and experts collaborating with the Ministry of Transport include: “Sustento,” “Socintegra,” “Road Traffic Safety Directorate,” “Road Transport Administration,” Vivi, “Latvian Railways,” and the “Latvian State Radio and Television Centre.”
Participation of the Ministry of Transport at the Conversation festival LAMPA is co-financed by European Union funds.
