Invitation to the Second Experience-Sharing Event on Innovative Social Services

Sabiedrības integrācijas fonds

Society Integration Foundation Invites to the Second Experience-Sharing Event on Innovative Social Services.

On 28 May 2025 at 13:30, the Society Integration Foundation (SIF) invites social service providers and sector professionals to join the second online experience-sharing event on the implementation of innovative social services, dedicated to the crucial topic of cooperation – “The Power and Role of Cooperation in Implementing Innovative Social Services.”
Three social service providers – two from Latvia and one from Italy – will share their experiences, insights, and practical advice on the importance and impact of cooperation in their work.
SIF encourages everyone to join the event to gain valuable, experience-based knowledge.

Speakers will include:

  • Žanete Jansone, Member of the Board of the social enterprise “Hospiss Māja”;

  • Jānis Roze, Chairman of the Board of the Camphill Foundation “Rožkalni”;

  • Dr. Antonio Antonelli, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Bergamo Health Protection Agency (Italy).

The social enterprise “Hospiss Māja” provides paid palliative care and hospice services for people in the final stages of life. Its main goal is to ensure dignified, high-quality care at home, allowing individuals to pass away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones.
The team includes doctors, nurses, psychologists, and social workers, offering comprehensive, holistic support to both patients and their families.
Through cooperation with state and municipal institutions, “Hospiss Māja” strives to create a sustainable support system for end-of-life care, participating in legislative improvements and pilot projects.
At the local level, the organization works with social services to identify patients in need of support.

The Camphill Foundation “Rožkalni”, located in Valmiera Municipality, is Latvia’s only village where people with intellectual disabilities live together with support staff in a small community and work in a certified organic farm.
Residents not only grow their own food but also produce various goods, including paper products for Waldorf schools in Latvia, Estonia, and Finland.
The community cooperates with state and municipal institutions, taking part in deinstitutionalization projects, and is part of the international Camphill movement, active in over 100 locations worldwide, promoting social inclusion for people with special needs.

The Bergamo Health Protection Agency in Italy implements the innovative project “Caregiver Bergamo”, providing comprehensive support for informal family caregivers – individuals caring for relatives with chronic illnesses or disabilities.
Launched in 2023, the project integrates health and social services, municipalities, and NGOs, creating an integrated support system for caregivers.
Its goal is to strengthen the link between medical and social care, foster caregiver inclusion, and provide necessary resources.
The project offers practical assistance, including information on available services, psychological support, and training opportunities.
“Caregiver Bergamo” has received European recognition, winning the 2024 European Social Services Award in the category “Supporting the Workforce.”
It serves as a best-practice example of collaboration between public institutions and NGOs to create sustainable social care solutions.

The event will be broadcast live with sign language interpretation from 13:30 to 15:00 on Delfi.lv, the SIF Facebook page, and on a dedicated event website, where participants can also ask questions.
The international presentation will be translated into Latvian.
