Thanks to European Union Recovery Fund financing, Disaster Management Centers in Madona and Līvāni opened today, June 19, 2025!
The construction project for these Disaster Management Centers began in 2020. At that time, the State Provision Agency, in collaboration with AS "UPB," developed standard depot building designs. These designs served as the foundation for adapting and utilizing the depot buildings as a unified administrative center for various institutions, thereby initiating the creation of the Disaster Management Centers.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the European Union for its significant contribution! Thanks to the funding from the European Union Recovery Fund project, as well as the tireless work of all cooperation partners, constructors, and everyone else involved, the project is now complete and stands before us!
As Guntis Ratnieks, acting director of the State Provision Agency, stated at the opening event: "What could be more important than human safety? Internal security, national security – these are fundamental needs for every person. Thank you to everyone who worked persistently to make this a reality! Safety, operational efficiency, quality – all of these are essential for the effective performance of our rescue services. The Disaster Management Centers will provide modern, high-quality facilities for their officials. We are pleased that not only the State Fire and Rescue Service will carry out their duties in this building, but also the Emergency Medical Service and our State Provision Agency Vidzeme department colleagues in Madona, and the State Police and the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs in Līvāni. May these buildings serve well and may the services have fewer calls!"
