Development of technology on Latvia's eastern border - the Latvian State Radio and Television Centre works to implement modern solutions

Ministry of the Interior

The Latvian State Radio and Television Centre is implementing the construction of a technological border surveillance solution along more than 450 km of the country's eastern border.

All contracts for equipping the Latvian-Russian and Latvian-Belarusian borders have now been concluded. In September, the development of all construction-related documentation will be completed, and work on installing the technological infrastructure will begin along the entire length of the border.

The installation of technology is underway for several hundred kilometers, with construction in some sections even ahead of schedule. One section has been partially completed, and the State Border Guard has begun testing the solution. This testing is crucial for adapting the technological platform, analytics, visibility, and usability in the other sections to the needs of the end-users.

"It must be emphasized that the technological solution is like a single organism, whose full operation will only be possible after all its elements are completed. To use an analogy—oxygen is in the lungs, the bloodstream, and the brain. For the organism to function fully, it's not enough for oxygen to be only in the lungs," notes Ģ. Ozols.

The project is co-financed by the European Union. It is being implemented in cooperation with the State Border Guard.
