Chief of the State Border Guard participates in the final conference of an EU-supported project in Kyrgyzstan

From September 4–5, 2025, General Guntis Pujāts, Chief of the State Border Guard, participated in the closing conference of the "Border Management Programme in Central Asia, Phase 10 (BOMCA 10)" project, held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The closing conference brought together project implementers, beneficiaries, and partners from Central Asian and European Union countries, embassies, EU delegations, as well as collaborating institutions and EU projects. Participants underscored the project's significant contribution to institutional development and international cooperation. Conference attendees presented key achievements since 2021 and discussed the implementation of recommendations that have already yielded positive results and laid the groundwork for a future systemic approach.

Prior to the conference, the Chief of the State Border Guard also met with Major General Abdikarim Alimbaev, Director of the Border Service of the Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security. During the meeting, the officials discussed successes to date, evaluated the implementation of recommendations, and agreed on future cooperation opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations between the institutions.

BOMCA 10 is an EU-supported project aimed at improving border management in Central Asia by strengthening cooperation and institutional capacity. Its goal is to promote stability and security in the region by helping Central Asian countries manage their borders more effectively.
