The survey conducted this year during the conversation festival LAMPA by the Ministry of Transport (MoT), reveals that the main motivation for a significant part of the public (40%) to use public transport more in the future is convenience—specifically, convenient and suitable routes. However, concern for the environment motivates only 12%. The results of the last year's survey at LAMPA and other surveys conducted by the MoT are similar.
"Suitable routes and comfortable travel would encourage citizens to use public transport more often. Citizens' responses confirm that accessible and convenient public transport is essential for achieving Europe's green goals. The new electric trains, infrastructure for micro-mobility, and Station 2.0 are measures aimed at increasing people's comfort and accessibility, which will contribute to changing daily commuting habits and moving towards green goals," acknowledges Kaspars Briškens, the Minister of Transport.
According to the visitors of LAMPA, the most important factors motivating them to use public transport more often in future would be suitable and convenient routes (40% of respondents), and for 26% of respondents - comfortable trains and buses. In 2023, festival visitors as the most important factor marked the availability of different types of public transport in one place, comfortable public transport, and suitable routes. This year, as last year, concern for the environment or environmentally friendly public transport would motivate only a small proportion of respondents—12% this year, compared to 11% last year.
A total of 343 visitors shared their opinions in the survey conducted during the conversation festival LAMPA. The participation of the MoT at the conversation festival LAMPA, including the survey, was co-financed by the European Union funds.
