GENERAL PROJECT INFORMATION
The Latvian National Museum of History is implementing a project in 2025–2026, addressing the challenges identified in Latvia2030, the National Development Plan for 2021–2027 (NDP2027) and the Cultural Policy Guidelines "Cultural State" by preserving, protecting and developing unique cultural monuments of national importance located in the territory included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in the historic center of Riga, promoting accessibility of the objects and expanding the innovative use of the object as a sustainable resource in improving the quality of human life and strengthening the community of local residents.
The project is part of the Latvian National Museum of History's efforts to resume operations at Riga Castle. In 2025, a children's activity room called " Explorer’s Attic” has been created at Riga Castle, and work will begin on constructing exhibitions. Riga Castle has outstanding architectural and historical value, and the new exhibitions are a way to fulfill the mission of the Latvian National Museum of History and offer a modern story of Latvian history to various audiences. The exhibition “Streaming Time” will be created, which is a comprehensive story about the land and people of Latvia in the long and changing course of history from the earliest times to the present day. The target audience for the exhibition “Streaming Time” is both local visitors and foreign tourists, as well as various social groups.
