On 11 December, the topping-out ceremony was marked for the reconstruction of the entrance area of the Salaspils Health Centre building, confirming the completion of a significant construction phase – the erection of the building’s load-bearing structures.
As part of the reconstruction, a single-storey extension will be built in the inner courtyard, with the floor level aligned to the height of the pavement. This will ensure convenient access to the building for persons with functional disabilities, seniors, and visitors with baby strollers. The extension will include a reception area, waiting hall, cloakroom, facilities adapted for persons with functional disabilities, a pharmacy, a laboratory collection point, and an on-duty doctor’s office.
At the same time, a new passenger lift shaft will be constructed up to the third floor of the building, enabling visitors to the health centre to use two lifts and significantly improving the building’s accessibility. The ground floor will also include a room for new mothers with children, public restrooms for visitors, as well as additional medical offices in the space currently occupied by the reception area.
The construction works are being implemented within the framework of the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility Plan investment 4.1.1.3.i. “Support for strengthening the healthcare infrastructure of secondary outpatient service providers to ensure comprehensive, sustainable, and integrated health services and to reduce the spread of infectious diseases while meeting epidemiological requirements” (Project No. 4.1.1.3.i.0/1/23/I/CFLA/041). The total contract value with SIA “KUUM” is EUR 779,550 excluding VAT, while the Recovery Fund financing amounts to EUR 139,336.43. The construction works are planned to be completed by 1 May 2026.
The reconstruction of the entrance area is a significant step towards the development of modern, safe, and accessible healthcare infrastructure in Salaspils Municipality, ensuring improved conditions for both patients and healthcare professionals.
