“AdvanGrid” is a Latvian technology company that has developed a modern monitoring platform for the digitalisation of manufacturing processes and resource consumption. The solution enables companies to monitor electricity, gas, water, heat, temperature, microclimate, and other production indicators in one place, providing management with accurate and timely data for everyday decision-making.
The AdvanGrid solution consists of two main components: smart sensors and a cloud platform. The sensors are easy and quick to install in any low-voltage electrical network, without requiring production shutdowns or changes to existing infrastructure. The collected data is automatically processed using various algorithms and presented to users in a clear digital environment.
This allows companies to track resource consumption in real time, analyse the efficiency of production lines and work shifts, assess the technical condition of equipment, accurately calculate product cost, and even determine the company’s CO₂ footprint. As a result, businesses can optimise workflows, reduce costs, and increase production volumes while minimising downtime and technical risks.
“Electricity and other resources in modern industry are like the bloodstream—by monitoring them in real time, it is possible to understand very precisely what is actually happening in production processes,” emphasises AdvanGrid CEO Oskars Gūtmanis.
Outpacing Competitors Through Precision
AdvanGrid’s competitiveness is not based on a single technological feature, but on a combination of mutually reinforcing competencies that deliver real, measurable value to clients. First, the AdvanGrid team has deep expertise in electricity and power grid operations.
The company not only collects data but also understands its physical meaning, cause-and-effect relationships, and impact on production processes and infrastructure. This expertise enables clients to receive practically interpretable information that helps identify problems early, reduce downtime risks, and make well-grounded technical and business decisions.
In addition, AdvanGrid develops both high-precision sensors (measurement error below 1%, compared to around 10% for many other industry solutions) and the software itself. Unlike many market players that merely integrate off-the-shelf third-party solutions, AdvanGrid controls the entire technology chain—from measurement to data analytics. This ensures high flexibility, the ability to tailor solutions to specific client needs, faster deployment of new functionalities, and long-term cost efficiency, as the solution is not constrained by external suppliers.
Finally, AdvanGrid focuses on value creation for the client rather than simply selling technology. The company offers various cooperation models and services, including sensor rental, software subscriptions, data analytics, consulting, and customised solutions. This enables clients to start using the solution without major upfront investments, achieve results faster, and use the technology exactly according to their real needs.
“This combination—deep industry expertise, full control over technology, and a focus on client outcomes—allows AdvanGrid to compete successfully both locally and internationally,” explains CEO Oskars Gūtmanis.
From Spin-Off to International Technology Company
AdvanGrid was founded in 2015 as a spin-off of SIA Intelligent Systems, a developer of fleet management and GPS solutions. Initially, the solution was developed with planned cooperation with an electricity distribution network operator, but since 2019 the company has deliberately refocused on industrial clients. In its current commercial form, AdvanGrid has been operating successfully for six years.
The company’s main clients are wood processing, food production, metalworking, and manufacturing companies—organisations with large workforces, complex production processes, and high consumption of electricity and other resources.
Currently, AdvanGrid serves more than 130 direct end clients on an ongoing basis, and last year the company achieved 20% revenue growth. The most rapid breakthrough occurred during the peak of electricity prices, when companies were particularly actively seeking solutions to optimise resource consumption. AdvanGrid’s clients include well-known companies such as Printful, Sadales tīkls, Stiga RM, Virši, Binders, APF Holdings, Pillar, as well as one of the world’s most valuable companies—Aramco.
Growth in Latvia and Export Markets
AdvanGrid’s development strategy focuses on balanced growth in both the domestic market and service exports. Currently, around 60% of the company’s activity is related to the Latvian market, while 40% comes from exports. The main target markets are Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, where the company operates directly, while also building strong partnerships in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia.
A significant development step was taken last year with the support of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) for digitalisation. AdvanGrid moved away from external software maintenance services and fully transitioned to its own IT infrastructure, establishing an internal IT team. The server infrastructure is currently hosted by another Latvian company, while the funding was used for creating virtual servers, system migration, and infrastructure maintenance.
“Having our own IT team and infrastructure allows us to fully focus on product development and the creation of new solutions,” stresses CEO Oskars Gūtmanis.
Full Service Cycle and New Sustainability Solutions
To expand its service offering and provide clients with a full solution cycle, AdvanGrid acquired the company LBRA in 2024, one of eight accredited energy auditors in Latvia. This step enabled the company to combine monitoring, data analytics, and professional energy audits into a single service, offering clients comprehensive support in improving resource efficiency.
Looking ahead, AdvanGrid, in cooperation with Riga Technical University, has developed an automated CO₂ calculation and sustainability reporting platform, planned for active market introduction in 2026. The solution also integrates artificial intelligence elements that significantly reduce manual work for sustainability specialists in complex calculations and help companies comply more efficiently with European Union sustainability requirements.
As sustainability monitoring requirements become increasingly stringent and gradually turn into a mandatory component of business operations, this solution marks an important milestone in AdvanGrid’s growth, opening up new opportunities in both Latvian and international markets.
