In today's world, crime is increasingly shifting from the streets to the digital realm. To protect society and effectively combat cyber threats, law enforcement agencies must stay one step ahead. Driven by this conviction and a clear objective, a major State Police project, "Establishment of a Digital Forensics Data Processing Platform within the State Police," has successfully concluded.

This story is not just about modern technology – it is a story about people and their professionalism. Under the project, State Police employees completed ten intensive and specialized training courses, tirelessly enhancing their knowledge in digital forensics and system maintenance. The result of this dedicated effort is impressive: our own police officers have earned 46 internationally recognized certificates, proving that Latvia's team of cyber investigators is capable of operating at the highest global level. The employees themselves admit that this knowledge is an invaluable driving force in their daily work.

The synergy of knowledge and shared experience is the key to success. In a special seminar dedicated to digital forensics methods, experts from various Latvian law enforcement agencies gathered at the same table. Together, they honed their skills in handling electronic evidence to ensure that no digital footprint goes unnoticed.

During the project, the material and technical base of the Cybercrime Enforcement Department was upgraded with new computer and server equipment, enabling more effective and high-quality task performance. The advanced digital forensics capabilities will foster more qualitative searching, acquisition, and preservation of electronic evidence in criminal proceedings. This means only one thing – justice will be served more efficiently.

This great step forward and the strengthening of our country's security would not be possible without reliable partners. We express our deepest gratitude to the European Union and the Internal Security Fund for the co-financing and support provided in the implementation of this project. These investments in both people and technology are a direct contribution to the peace and security of every resident of Latvia. The project took place from March 2025 to April 2026.

Together, we have created a safer digital space for tomorrow!
