Latvian beverage brand Rudy’s Kombucha is continuing to promote Latvia’s name around the world – on October 25, the company won a gold medal at the prestigious World Kombucha Awards 2025 for the best label design. More than 200 kombucha producers from around the world participated in this year’s competition.

The award-winning design was created for the Matcha & Passion Fruit Kombucha, which stands out with its bright taste and recognizable visual identity. The award-winning drink was created in collaboration with Estonian company HI Matcha, which imports matcha from the Uji region of Japan, a place famous for its tradition of growing the highest quality tea.

The fact that all Rudy’s Kombucha can designs have been created by the mother of one of the company’s co-founders since the very beginning adds special significance to the competition victory. As a result, the award is not only international recognition, but also a personal family achievement.

From a family business to global success

Rudy’s Kombucha produces premium quality kombucha, a fermented tea drink that has become a favourite among healthy lifestyle enthusiasts around the world. Rudy’s Kombucha has re-imagined the beverage long since known in Latvia as “tea fungus” drink into a healthy, tasty, and modern product. The drinks are 100% vegan, gluten-free and unpasteurized, retaining all their natural enzymes, vitamins and probiotics, which have a beneficial effect on the digestive system and strengthen immunity.

The company’s production takes place entirely in Latvia – all drinks are fermented, bottled and prepared for export in Kuldīga, without any outsourcing. The company remains faithful to the principle that quality and authenticity can only be achieved when everything is done by hand.

The support provided by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) has also been a useful tool in the company’s path to growth. After joining the LIAA business incubator in Kuldīga, the company participated in its first international exhibition in Cologne in 2021. This became a significant turning point – it was there that the first foreign partner, from Greece, was found.

Products from Kuldīga already in 15 countries around the world

This is not Rudy’s Kombucha’s first global success. In 2023, the company won a gold medal in the “Best Taste of the Year” category at the World Kombucha Awards, and before that, at the SIAL Innovation Awards 2022 in Paris for its innovative champagne yeast drink. These awards have strengthened the brand’s reputation and helped open doors to new partners in various export markets.

The beverage produced in Kuldīga can compete with global brands not only in terms of taste and quality, but also in terms of design and its unique story. The brand was named in honour of the company founder’s family pet – a dog named Rudy. Founded in 2019, the company’s initial production capacity was only 500 liters, but demand quickly exceeded this capacity, so the company established a production facility in Kuldīga. Rudy’s Kombucha products are now available in 15 countries, including Lithuania, Estonia, Scandinavia, Germany, the Netherlands, Greece, Portugal, and even Singapore.
