Ministry of Transport

With the co-financing of European Union funds, improvements are being made at train stations and stops to ensure accessibility for everyone – including people with mobility, vision, or hearing impairments. The modernization of infrastructure provides more convenient access to station buildings and makes boarding and getting off the trains easier not only for passengers with special needs, but also for parents with strollers, seniors, and other public transport users.

The video Public transport improvements for people with reduced mobility presents a real-life story about traveling by train. Linda uses a wheelchair due to mobility impairments, and the video shows her journey step by step from the Riga Central Station to Olaine. It highlights the improvements in railway infrastructure and train services, demonstrating how these solutions make everyday commuting easier. The aim of the video is to encourage and inspire all groups of residents to use the train more actively as a convenient, accessible, and safe mode of transport for everyone.
