From March 19 to May 14, State Police officers participated in training sessions focusing on international cooperation issues and modern cross-border cooperation tools. The training was made possible thanks to the project “Strengthening Baltic Sea Region Law Enforcement Authorities for Fighting the New Cross-Border Threats,” co-funded by the European Union’s Internal Security Fund (ISF).
The objective of the training was to strengthen the capacity of regional law enforcement agencies in combating modern cross-border threats by improving officers' knowledge and practical skills in international information exchange, person searches, and data retrieval. A total of 234 State Police officers enhanced their competence through this training.
During the sessions, participants covered various topics related to international cooperation. They examined procedures for requesting information and exchanging data within European Union and Interpol member states, as well as online information available within the EU. Knowledge regarding the process of searching for persons at both national and international levels, as well as creating and updating alerts, was reinforced. The practical portion of the training focused on information searching and data retrieval.
The training implemented within the project promotes a unified understanding among State Police officers regarding international cooperation mechanisms.
The activities took place during the implementation of project No. VP/IDF/2024/6 “Strengthening Baltic Sea Region Law Enforcement Authorities for Fighting the New Cross-Border Threats.” The project is carried out within the framework of the Internal Security Fund for the 2021–2027 planning period, with the Ministry of the Interior serving as the managing authority in Latvia.
