Two pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure sections are being built in Zemgale

Ministry of Transport

Two sections of pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure are being built along state roads in the Zemgale region.

In Dobele municipality, along the regional state road Jelgava–Dobele–Annenieki Road (P97) from Dobele to the turnoff to Miltiņi (km 27.15–29.72), a 2.6 km long and 2.5 m wide pedestrian and cyclist path with asphalt pavement and lighting along its entire length is being constructed.

Speed limits of 50 km/h and 70 km/h have been introduced in the construction area. The works are being carried out by Valkas ceļi under a contract worth EUR 975,988 (including VAT). The construction of the pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure is financed with European Union funds, while the lighting will be funded by Dobele municipality. The project designer is "ACM Projekts"Ltd.

Meanwhile, along the Bauska highway (A7) from Iecava to Zorģi (km 45.12–48.5), more than three kilometres long pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure section with asphalt pavement is under construction. It will be located on the same pavement structure as the road and separated by a gravel shoulder fitted with a raised safety barrier. At access points and intersections, pedestrian and bicycle crossing areas will be created, while asphalt pavement at bus stops on the right side of the road will be renewed.

Speed limits of 50 km/h and 70 km/h have also been introduced in the construction zone. In local work areas, traffic may be organised in a single lane with priority signs as needed. The works are being carried out by "Vianova" Ltd under a contract worth EUR 1,105,409, while construction supervision is provided by OU "Teede insenerid". The project designer is "ReālProjekts"Ltd.

Construction works on both sections are scheduled to be completed this summer.
