Latvian Railway invites suppliers to participate in an online consultation on the development of battery-electric train charging infrastructure

Ministry of Transport

As part of preparations for the upcoming open tender “Development of battery-electric train charging infrastructure: construction (Design and construction works)”, SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš (LDz) will organise an online consultation with interested suppliers on 30 June at 10:00 a.m. via the Microsoft Teams platform.

The purpose of the consultation is to familiarise potential bidders with the key requirements of the planned procurement, discuss the technical specification requirements, assess market capacity to prepare high-quality and compliant proposals, and gather feedback on how the procurement documentation could be improved.

LDz invites industry professionals to participate in the discussion and contribute to the development of a procurement solution that is practical, technically sound, and aligned with the development needs of Latvia’s railway network.

The procurement is being implemented within the framework of the project “Development of BEMU charging infrastructure.” The project provides for the design and construction of charging infrastructure for battery-electric multiple-unit (BEMU) trains at a minimum of three strategically important railway stations: Sigulda, Līvāni and Daugavpils. Subject to the availability of project funding, charging infrastructure for BEMU trains is also planned in Cēsis.

Interested suppliers are also invited to submit their comments and proposals electronically by 10 July 2026.

The procurement is carried out within the framework of the project under Measure 2.4.1.3 “Zero-Emission (Battery) Trains” of the European Union Cohesion Policy Programme 2021–2027, Specific Objective 2.4.1 “Promoting sustainable multimodal mobility through the uptake of electromobility.”
