EU co-funded seminar in Riga focuses on digital forensics to combat cybercrime

Ministry of the Interior

In February, law enforcement experts gathered in Riga for the seminar 'Best Practices and Effective Investigation Methods in Digital Forensics,' organized by officers from the 3rd Unit of the State Police Cybercrime Enforcement Department.

The primary objective of the seminar was to strengthen cooperation between law enforcement agencies and promote the exchange of experience in the field of cybercrime enforcement and prevention. The event was attended by representatives of various law enforcement agencies, including digital forensics experts from operational entities and investigative bodies.

During the seminar, participants discussed best practice examples, effective digital forensic investigation methods, and the current challenges faced in cybercrime investigations.

In light of increasing cyber threats and Latvia's geopolitical situation, the seminar served as a vital platform for professional knowledge sharing and the enhancement of inter-institutional cooperation in the fight against cybercrime.

The seminar was organized as part of project No. VP/IDF/2024/7, 'Development of a Digital Forensics Data Processing Platform within the State Police.' This project is implemented under the Internal Security Fund (ISF) for the 2021–2027 programming period, for which the Ministry of the Interior serves as the Managing Authority in Latvia.
