Substantial Progress - Steps Towards a Safer Border
Our dedicated project implementer, the State Border Guard, in cooperation with SJSC Latvian State Radio and Television Centre and the State Provision Agency, achieved significant progress in the implementation of this EU co-funded project in the 3rd quarter of 2025. This is a shared success across the strategic sections of both the Latvia–Belarus and Latvia–Russia borders!
Latvia–Belarus border - construction work is actively continuing along more than one hundred kilometers. Designing has been completed, and modern technologies have been introduced, which will ensure effective border surveillance and rapid response to potential situations in the future;
Latvia–Russia border - work is simultaneously progressing in several phases! Designing is complete, construction continues, and the next stages will be launched shortly. This confirms the project's determined focus on developing a modern and technologically advanced border surveillance system!
Transparency and Strategic Vision
Our strength lies in transparency and unity! The public consultation on the renovation of observation and communication towers, held in the 3rd quarter of 2025, is clear proof that security is built in close cooperation with the public, affirming the project's transparency.
EU Financial Support – Much More Than Just Figures!
The ambitious project is being implemented within the framework of the Border Management and Visa Instrument (2021-27), for which the Ministry of the Interior is the managing authority in Latvia.
The regular visits of high-ranking state officials to the external border sections clearly emphasize that EU funds support is not just about numbers. It is the lifeblood that transforms into sustainable and secure smart infrastructure, protecting both national security and the peace and daily lives of every resident in the border area.
We recognize with true inspiration and gratitude how generous and vitally important the EU support is! This ambitious project is the best testament to EU solidarity and shared responsibility.
