GENERAL PROJECT INFORMATION
The objective of the investment is to promote the creation of new digital products and services that would support the recovery of Latvia’s economy from the crisis and enhance competitiveness in the future through the introduction of modern automation, robotisation, and work control tools in manufacturing, as well as to support the implementation of company-specific, customised e-commerce solutions in sales processes.
TARGET GROUP
Micro, small, medium-sized, and large enterprises, as well as research and knowledge dissemination organisations.
Support is available in the form of grants of up to EUR 3,037,500 per competence centre.
For a single cooperation partner, support is capped at EUR 1,000,000.
PROJECT PROGRESS INFORMATION
As of 16 January 2026, 8 competence centres and 79 research projects have been supported, with total funding of EUR 22.8 million, attracting EUR 9.6 million in private investment.

ELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES UNDER THE INVESTMENT
Within the framework of the investment, the following eligible activities may be carried out:
activities of cooperation partners undertaken within research projects to develop new or improve existing products, services, and technologies in smart specialisation areas, including the implementation of digitalisation, automation, robotisation, and work control solutions in manufacturing and service development processes, as well as support for the introduction of customised e-commerce solutions;
implementation of industrial research;
implementation of experimental development;
implementation of technical and economic feasibility studies with a total value exceeding EUR 250,000;
coordination of research projects organised by the funding recipient, including promotion of cooperation, sharing of information and knowledge, and coverage of project management costs.
PROGRAMME TARGET
The investment is implemented by 31 December 2027.
The targets to be achieved by 30 June 2026 are:
43 research projects approved, and
EUR 4,860,000 in private financing attracted.
