GENERAL PROJECT INFORMATION
The aim of the project is to strengthen the research capacity of Daugavpils University by developing and modernising its infrastructure in line with the priorities of Latvia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS3). The main focus is on promoting excellence in areas such as knowledge-intensive bioeconomy, photonics, smart materials and technologies, and engineering systems.
The project’s main activity is the development of research infrastructure, including:
Procurement of equipment and supplies for establishing and maintaining an apiary for pollinators.
Acquisition of equipment for studying the behaviour of research subjects, including insects (such as Drosophila flies and bees), rats and fish.
Acquisition of acoustic laboratory equipment.
Acquisition of a continuous-flow respirometry system.
Acquisition of a mobile multispectral habitat analysis system.
Adaptation of premises for the entomological collection.
Acquisition of small equipment for laboratory maintenance and operation.
Acquisition of various types of microscopes and cameras.
Acquisition of expedition equipment for carrying out contract work in the field.
Acquisition of equipment for conducting research and contract work in the field.
Acquisition of computer hardware and software.
Expansion of server capacity.
Replacement of the X-ray tube and calibration of the Zeiss Xradia Versa 510 micro-CT system.
The project will significantly improve Daugavpils University’s research equipment and data processing infrastructure, creating the conditions for high-quality, internationally competitive scientific research. The modernised infrastructure will promote diverse and efficient research, enable the development of new interdisciplinary research areas, and make the University a more attractive partner for collaboration with scientific institutions and industry partners in Latvia and abroad.
