GENERAL PROJECT INFORMATION

EU funds are allocated for the development of research and innovation centres.
Support is intended for the creation of modern research infrastructure in scientific institutions, enabling the establishment of centres of excellence in several areas of Latvia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (RIS3). This will strengthen the capacity of Latvia’s innovation system and support its development in line with the RIS3 strategy.

Within this measure, support is provided for non-economic and combined research infrastructure development projects, including interdisciplinary projects. These contribute to the implementation of the transformation directions and growth priorities defined in Latvia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy, as well as to the development of the following specialisation areas:

  • Knowledge-intensive bioeconomy

  • Biomedicine, medical technologies, pharmacy

  • Photonics and smart materials, technologies and engineering systems

  • Smart energy and mobility

  • Information and communication technologies
