This year, the Internal Security Academy has achieved an outstanding result by enrolling a record number of students. This success is no coincidence—it confirms that young people increasingly value and choose a responsible career dedicated to Latvia's security. And in this growth, the support of the European Union plays a very significant role.

It was the EU co-financing that helped implement an informational campaign that reached hundreds of potential students and inspired them to join the community of security professionals. As a result, the greatest interest was in the State Police College's "Police Work" program and the University of Latvia's "Pre-trial Investigation" program.

Existing security specialists also continuously strive for growth. They are improving their knowledge in master's studies at prestigious universities such as the University of Latvia and Rīga Stradiņš University. This desire to learn and grow shows that Latvia's security services are ready to face any challenges.

Dimitrijs Trofimovs, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, emphasizes: "Future security professionals must have not only a solid theoretical knowledge but also practical experience, and this is what we provide by working closely with the State Police College, the University of Latvia, Rīga Stradiņš University, and other law enforcement agencies. Today's students will be the ones who will take care of their country and its every resident tomorrow."

This success proves that European Union support is indispensable. It's not just funding—it's an investment in Latvia's security, public well-being, and the future of every resident. Thanks to this support, the Internal Security Academy can continue its mission of preparing the next generation that will protect our country's security.

Project No. VP/IDF/2024/5, "Strengthening the State Police's Response Mobility and Counter-Terrorism Capabilities by Establishing a Practical Training Center," is being implemented within the framework of the European Union's Internal Security Fund 2021-2027 planning period, with the managing authority in Latvia being the Ministry of the Interior. The implementation period is from 01.04.2024 to 31.12.2029.
