Modern passenger platforms – more comfortable and greener travel!

To provide residents with a modern, safe, and convenient railway infrastructure that is also adapted for the new electric passenger trains, the state-owned company “Latvijas dzelzceļš” (Latvian Railways) is implementing the project “Modernization of Railway Passenger Infrastructure” with funding from the European Union funds.

"Modern Passenger Platforms – More Comfortable and Greener Travel!" ("Moderni peroni – ērtāka un zaļāka braukšana!") tells the story of Kozmens' journey from Zemitāni to Vecāķi. Both railway stations feature elevated, modernised platforms, making train travel more accessible for everyone — including people with visual or mobility impairments, parents with strollers and cyclists. Along the way, he meets two young travellers, Madara and Daniels, as well as Toms, Head of Corporate Communications at SJSC “Latvijas dzelzceļš”. They discuss how the improvements have enhanced the commuting experience and the planned modernisation of other railway stations and stops.
