Liepāja-based company “Global Wolf Motors”, which develops the multifunctional “Mosphera” electric vehicles, has strengthened its position in international markets in recent years. The company’s vehicles are used in more than 20 countries worldwide by police forces, rescue services, the agricultural and logistics sectors, as well as for military applications. Its product portfolio has also been expanded with a new casualty evacuation platform for medical and rescue teams. Innovation vouchers provided by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) have also made a significant contribution to the company’s development, with the group having already used this support in four development projects.
In its latest project, with support from a LIAA innovation voucher, the company refined the industrial design of its casualty evacuation platform and developed the final prototype. This enabled the product to be prepared for commercialisation significantly faster and offered to customers in Latvia and abroad.
“Without the LIAA innovation voucher, this product would have reached the market at least one or two years later. The support enabled us to bring in professionals who helped refine the industrial design and reach the final solution much faster,” says Klāvs Ašmanis, co-founder of the company.
This is not the company’s first experience with the innovation voucher programme. Overall, the “Global Wolf Motors” group has already used this type of support in four projects, developing new products and technological solutions.
“If a company is working on new products, this programme is extremely valuable. It can significantly accelerate the development process and provides access to highly qualified specialists whom a company might not otherwise be able to afford,” says Klāvs Ašmanis.
The company highly values not only the financial support itself, but also its cooperation with LIAA specialists. “My experience has been entirely positive. Even if I wanted to, I could not find anything to criticise – the consultations, project evaluation and communication have all been professional and efficient. It is clear that the agency has developed considerably in recent years and has become a genuine partner for businesses,” emphasises Klāvs Ašmanis.
He also highlights the support provided by LIAA’s representative offices abroad, which helps companies find new cooperation partners and open doors in export markets. “They help us identify the right contacts and shorten the path to potential customers. For a company operating internationally, this is extremely valuable support,” says Klāvs Ašmanis.
The programme is funded under Measure 1.2.1.4 “Support for Improving the Technology Transfer System” of Specific Objective 1.2.1 “Strengthening Research and Innovation Capacities and Introducing Advanced Technologies in Enterprises” of the European Union Cohesion Policy Programme 2021–2027.
