GENERAL PROJECT INFORMATION

The aim of the project is to develop and improve the research infrastructure of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU), the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Economics (AREI), and the Institute of Horticulture (DI), strengthening scientific excellence in smart specialisation areas and promoting the development of interdisciplinary research.

Expected results:

  • Investment of at least EUR 2,259,905 in research and innovation equipment.

  • At least 53 full-time equivalent (FTE) researchers involved in research activities.

  • A significant increase in funding from contract research, intellectual property commercialisation and international projects, amounting to at least EUR 8,974,894.

PROJECT PROGRESS

  1. A project working group has been established to ensure successful implementation and achievement of the project’s objectives. A communication model for cooperation with project partners has also been developed.

  2. Preparations for procurement documentation and the launch of procurement procedures have begun to achieve several national-level results through the modernisation of scientific laboratory equipment.

  3. Equipment has been purchased and installed at the Scientific Institute of Plant Protection “Agrihorts”.

  4. Premises have been adapted to establish a water management laboratory, providing a modern, safe working environment suited to research needs. The purchased reverse osmosis and deionisation system is already in practical use, enabling the production of high-purity water and ensuring the quality of analytical processes.
