Developed bicycle infrastructure - greener travel

Ministry of Transport

Cycling is a part of sustainable transport which increases the mobility opportunities of the society. The development of cycle path infrastructure is one of the measures financed by the Recovery Fund (RRF) in the greening reform of the transport system of the Riga metropolitan area implemented by the Ministry of Transport. The RRF funding in the amount of 34.5 million euros is planned for the development of cycle path infrastructure over a length of 52 km. By 2027, cycle paths will also be built in other municipalities with the support of EU funds. The creation of cycle paths will simultaneously promote the choice of environmentally friendly transport, a healthy lifestyle, as well as the connectivity of the city center and neighborhoods.
