The State Border Guard College is implementing project No. VRK/RPVP/2025/3, titled "Strengthening the Cooperation and Training Capacity of Border Security Agencies in Latvia for Effective Implementation of European Integrated Border Management," approved under the Financial Support Instrument for Border Management and Visa Policy 2021-2027.
The main objective of the project is to increase the effectiveness of the integrated border management system of the Republic of Latvia by improving inter-institutional cooperation, coordination, training, and research mechanisms. By the end of 2026, the project aims to jointly review and update existing border management processes, inter-institutional cooperation plans, and mechanisms; analyze existing and potential border security threats and inter-agency cooperation challenges; adopt best practices in foreign border security management; and develop the training and research capacity of Latvian educational institutions related to border security for the effective implementation of European integrated border management components.
Within the framework of the project, from May 19-23 this year, representatives from the State Border Guard College, the State Border Guard, the State Police College, the Customs Board of the State Revenue Service, and the Office of the Ombudsman familiarized themselves with examples of good practices in strategic, operational, and educational implementation of border management in Poland. They also visited the FRONTEX agency and learned about its structure and tasks within the context of overall EU border security.
