With Interreg support, SFRS raises public safety awareness at festival and plans summer evacuation drills

Ministry of the Interior

On Sunday, May 24, within the framework of the "MassMovement" project (No. LL-00103), we participated in the festival “TrādiRīga” in Riga to strengthen public resilience, knowledge, and understanding of correct actions during various threats. The high turnout confirmed that visitors DO have a genuine interest in safety matters! Thank you to everyone who took part in the activities organized by the State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS)!

To ensure personal and family safety in emergencies, timely preparation is essential. Festival-goers had the opportunity to complete various practical tasks—learning how to act in the event of an evacuation, what to pack in an emergency "go-bag", and how cell broadcast alerts work. We also assisted several visitors in downloading the “112 Latvija” app.

Practical evacuation drills are also scheduled under the project, and partners are already planning to implement the first drills of this kind in the summer of 2026. These drills will train inter-institutional cooperation and test the execution of evacuation processes under realistic conditions, ensuring that, if necessary, evacuation takes place in an organized, timely, and efficient manner.

The project “MassMovement” (LL-00103) is implemented with the support of the European Union’s 2021–2027 Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Cross-Border Cooperation Programme.
