Implementation of the project to strengthen the technological capabilities of the State Border Guard continues.
Under the project “Development of the National (Common) Situational Picture (Phase 3),” measures are underway to enhance situational awareness at the border of the Republic of Latvia:
Enhancement and expansion of video surveillance systems of the State Border Guard and the State Border Guard College have been completed, covering a larger area to provide a broader field of view and improved control over land borders and border areas.
Upgrades and expansion of sensor systems of the State Border Guard have been carried out. Latest-generation detection technologies ensure higher accuracy and speed in identifying presence and potential threats.
Procurement and installation of data processing and visualization equipment for the Maritime Video Surveillance System of the State Border Guard has been completed, enabling more efficient processing and visualization of real-time video streams for a clearer, more detailed overview of the situation at sea.
Infrastructure of the Latvian National Unit of the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) has been upgraded. Through this project activity, the establishment of the ETIAS Latvian National Unit has been completed; its main duty is to conduct risk assessments and issue decisions regarding travel authorization applications flagged by the automated application process.
A procurement procedure is ongoing for body-worn cameras, data processing, data storage, and peripheral equipment.
