Ministry of the Interior

The State Border Guard College continues to implement the approved project No. VRK/RPVP/2025/3 'Strengthening the cooperation and training capacity of border security agencies in Latvia for the effective implementation of the European Integrated Border Management,' under the Border Management and Visa Instrument (2021-27).

Within the framework of the project, representatives from the State Border Guard, State Border Guard College, State Police, State Revenue Service, and National Armed Forces visited Italy this year from October 27–31.

During the visit, the representatives familiarized themselves with examples of Italian best practice in the strategic, operational, and educational realization of border management. The delegation visited the Italian Central Directorate for Immigration and Border Police, Fiumicino Airport, the Coast Guard Service in Rome, and the Civitavecchia Port border crossing point. They also visited the Italian Guardia di Finanza's Maritime and Air Force Base at Pratica di Mare, which hosts the Frontex International Coordination Centre (ICC).
