At the end of 2025, the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs held a kick-off meeting for two strategically significant, EU co-financed projects:
"Implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum Procedures in the Field of Asylum";
"Improvement of the Register of Expelled Foreigners and Entry Bans in accordance with the requirements of the Pact on Migration and Asylum."
The objective of these projects is to ensure that Latvia’s asylum, migration, and return procedures fully comply with the requirements of the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum.
Key Improvements Planned:
System Modernization: Information systems will be upgraded, enhancing the quality of statistical data and ensuring seamless data exchange with the EURODAC system.
Enhanced Procedures: Asylum and return processes will be aligned with the latest EU standards, ensuring greater efficiency and transparency.
The implementation of these strategically important projects and the successful integration of the Pact on Migration and Asylum requirements are made possible through the financial support provided by the European Union.
We extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the European Commission for its invaluable contribution to the modernization of Latvia’s public administration. EU fund investments provide the necessary resources for Latvia to effectively integrate into the unified European security area, guaranteeing the highest standards in the field of migration and asylum. Our thanks to the EU for its partnership and support in building a safer and more cohesive Europe!
