The new Disaster Management Centre was solemnly inaugurated in Kuldīga

Ministry of the Interior

On September 30, the new Disaster Management Centre was officially inaugurated at 40 Lauku Street, Kuldīga. The new centre was established to ensure a more prompt and effective response to emergency situations in the Kurzeme region. It was constructed with co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund.

The State Fire and Rescue Service, the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, the Digital Centre of the Ministry of the Interior, and the Provision State Agency will begin operations and be housed in the new Disaster Management Centre.

The establishment of the Disaster Management Centre in Kuldīga holds special significance for the Kurzeme region. Modern infrastructure and the co-location of several internal affairs agencies create the prerequisites for closer daily cooperation, faster information exchange, and more coordinated action during both routine events and threat or crisis situations. The official opening ceremony, which took place at 2:00 PM, was organized by the Ministry of the Interior alongside its subordinate institutions. At the same time, the centre provides modern working conditions tailored to the specific nature of the services' operations. The new centre is thus more than just a new building—it represents a long-term investment in national and public safety.

The expansion of the Disaster Management Centre network across Latvia continues, with several additional centres being developed with co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), including in Tukums, Riga (Bolderāja), Preiļi, Sigulda, Aizkraukle, Limbaži, Jūrmala (Kauguri), Dobele, Ludza, and Saldus.
