On July 18, 2025, a ceremonial topping-out event was held in Rēzekne to celebrate the completion of the roof structure of the Administrative Building for the new Cynology Training Center complex.
Representatives from SIA "Latgales būve" were invited to the event to evaluate the construction work completed so far.
The construction of the Cynology Training Center complex is taking place within the framework of the EU co-funded project, "Construction of the Cynology Training Center Complex of the State Border Guard College, Phase 1." The project will result in a new, specialized Cynology Training Center for basic training of service dogs. It will implement a centralized and development-oriented training system for canine handlers and service dogs from law enforcement agencies—Customs and the National Armed Forces—and will also continue training for canine handlers from EU member states and Latvia's partner countries. The new Cynology Training Center complex will also promote the implementation of tasks that are fully compliant with modern requirements, improve working conditions for staff and living conditions for service dogs, and ensure the safe and environmentally friendly storage of training materials.
The project implementation period is until August 31, 2026.
