The Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior continues to implement the the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) project "Development of Cloud Computing Services for the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior within the Framework of the National Federated Cloud" and to develop modern information technology solutions to improve the accessibility, security, and efficiency of state digital services. Within the framework of the project, the ICT infrastructure is being strengthened, which can serve the needs of the interior sector as well as the wider public administration.
The goal of the project is to expand the ICT infrastructure maintained by the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior and to develop infrastructure-level services within the framework of the national data processing cloud. The Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior is one of the four cloud computing service providers (JSC "Latvian State Radio and Television Centre," National Library of Latvia, Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Agriculture) within the national federated cloud framework, which will provide shared computing and data management infrastructure.
Significant measures have been taken within the framework of the project to improve and expand the shared cloud computing infrastructure of the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as to develop infrastructure-level services within the national data processing cloud.
So far, during the project:
switches have been installed, expanding the computer network of the cloud computing management platform;
the data storage infrastructure has been improved;
three data registers and a public warning solution have been hosted on the shared cloud computing infrastructure;
in cooperation with JSC "Latvian State Radio and Television Centre," a secure data transmission network is being established between the data centres of the four national federated cloud project implementers;
work continues on the improvement of the ICT infrastructure architecture and the development of infrastructure service descriptions.
The investment of the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior in the development of ICT infrastructure will ensure even more stable, secure, and higher-quality state services.
The project "Development of Cloud Computing Services for the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior within the Framework of the National Federated Cloud" is being implemented with the support of the RRF. The determined costs for the implementation of the project are up to 3,007,200 euros, which consists of RRF financing in the amount of 2,520,000 euros and state budget financing for covering value-added tax costs up to 487,200 euros.
