Thanks to EU support, the services of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs will become even more convenient for the society

Ministry of the Interior

On April 22, 2025, the government supported the implementation of the European Regional Development Fund project for the improvement and development of services provided by the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA), thereby strengthening OCMA's response capabilities and the accessibility of its services to various groups of society, including in crisis situations.

As a result of the project, solutions will be provided for a more convenient and faster process of obtaining personal identification documents.

The project as a whole plans to:

  • develop a new version of the Personal Identification Document Information System;

  • purchase equipment for personal identification document processing workstations and customer self-service kiosks;

  • purchase the necessary technical infrastructure for the personalization of personal identification documents;

  • develop a new e-service for personal identification documents, thereby reducing the time spent;

  • develop an e-service for receiving and updating personal data in the Register of Natural Persons regarding events registered abroad;

  • develop and implement a service for the issuance of personal identification documents outside of OCMA premises.

The government also supported the planned project costs of EUR 10,000,000, of which EUR 8,500,000 is planned from the European Regional Development Fund and EUR 1,500,000 from the state budget.

The project is planned to be implemented by December 31, 2029.
