The project "Establishment of a Digital Forensics Data Processing Platform within the State Police," implemented by the State Police, has concluded. Its objective was to strengthen the institution's effectiveness in the fight against cybercrime and related serious and especially serious crimes.

Under the project, 10 specialized training courses in the field of cybersecurity and data processing platform maintenance were acquired and delivered. The training was attended by employees of the State Police, who obtained a total of 46 internationally recognized certifications. Knowledge was enhanced in the fields of digital forensics, cybersecurity, and system maintenance, and employees acknowledge that such training is highly beneficial for their daily duties.

Digital forensics experts from various Latvian law enforcement agencies participated in a seminar on digital forensics methods for combating cybercrime. The participants improved their professional skills in handling electronic evidence. Additionally, the project raised public awareness about the fundamental principles of cyber hygiene and provided insight into the work of the 3rd Unit of the Cybercrime Enforcement Department of the State Police.

During the project, the material and technical base of the Cybercrime Enforcement Department was upgraded with new computer and server equipment, enabling more effective and high-quality task performance. The developed digital forensics capabilities will foster more qualitative searching, acquisition, and preservation of electronic evidence in criminal proceedings.

Project No. VP/IDF/2024/7 "Establishment of a Digital Forensics Data Processing Platform within the State Police" is implemented within the framework of the Internal Security Fund's 2021–2027 planning period, with the Ministry of the Interior as the Managing Authority in Latvia. Its implementation period is from March 12, 2025, to April 30, 2026.
