How are future police officers prepared in Latvia, how are training and professional development organized, and what solutions are used in daily operations? Representatives of the management of the Lithuanian Police School sought answers to these and other questions during a four-day job-shadowing visit to the State Police College.
The visit took place within the framework of Erasmus+ professional development mobility, providing Lithuanian colleagues with an opportunity to learn about the experience of the State Police College in person and to discuss the organization of work at police educational institutions in both countries.
During the visit, representatives of the Lithuanian Police School became acquainted with the study programs of the State Police College, cadet admission procedures, the planning and organization of the study process, as well as other matters related to the training of police officers.
Equally significant was the opportunity to inspect the infrastructure and learning environment of the State Police College in person. Lithuanian colleagues visited the Cynology Division, the library, and the premises of the Department of Professional Training, learning about the opportunities provided for the professional growth of future and experienced police officers alike.
At the State Provision Agency, representatives of the Lithuanian Police School learned about the maintenance of the State Police College buildings and surrounding grounds, as well as cadet accommodation conditions in the dormitory. At the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior, colleagues from the Lithuanian Police School gained insight into the digital solutions and IT support required to ensure a high-quality study process.
Representatives of the Lithuanian Police School showed particular interest in the work of the Investigators' Training Center and the opportunities it provides. Colleagues from the Lithuanian Police School visited the shooting range and observed first aid training, thus gaining a broader understanding of practical skill development in the police officer training process.
Such job-shadowing visits serve as a valuable opportunity to learn from one another, compare experiences, and seek new solutions for the development of police education. At the same time, they strengthen cooperation between the State Police College and the Lithuanian Police School and lay the foundation for future exchange of experience.
