Ministry of the Interior

Under the MassMovement project (LL-00310), representatives from Latvia and Lithuania conducted an exchange of experience visit to Poland from September 7 to 9 of this year. During the visit, the delegation visited the Ministry of the Interior and Administration of the Republic of Poland, the Security Bureau of the Capital City of Warsaw, and the Headquarter of the State Fire Service.

During the visit, information was gathered on the organization and operation of Poland's civil protection system at the national, regional, and local levels, with particular emphasis on evacuation planning, civil-military cooperation, the operation of crisis management centers, and the organization of mass evacuations. Furthermore, participants learned about the experience of the Polish State Fire Service in developing its civil protection system, responding to the mass influx of Ukrainian residents, and involving international organizations and the non-governmental sector in ensuring the operation of mass evacuation and transit centers.

This experience provides valuable insight into the organization and functioning of a civil protection system across various governance levels, as well as into evacuation planning, crisis management, and inter-institutional cooperation.

All project activities are funded by the European Union Interreg Latvia–Lithuania Programme 2021–2027.
