The State Border Guard College continues to enhance the professional readiness of its personnel through the implementation of Project No. VRK/RPVP/2025/3, “Strengthening the Cooperation and Training Capacity of Border Security Agencies in Latvia for the Effective Implementation of European Integrated Border Management.” The project is supported by the Border Management and Visa Instrument (2021 - 2027).
On April 24 of this year, the final examination of the professional qualification development program “Emergency Situations at the State Border” was successfully conducted. During the three-week training cycle, which included e-learning modules, officials deepened their theoretical knowledge and refined practical skills required to execute the “Mass Disorders” emergency plan.
The highlight of the training consisted of practical simulations where border guards mastered crowd control tactics. Experts from the Special Tasks Battalion of the State Police shared their experience and best practices, ensuring the highest level of inter-institutional cooperation.
Supported by EU funding, the project further aims to achieve the following in 2026:
Modernize the infrastructure of the State Border Guard College;
Implement large-scale inter-institutional cooperation training;
Conduct practical simulations to test the functionality of European Integrated Border Management.
