State Police officers master the capabilities of the EURODAC system

Ministry of the Interior

On March 20, 2026, the State Border Guard College organized a training course “Working with the Biometric Data Processing System EURODAC” for State Police officials.

Officials from the Riga, Kurzeme, Zemgale, Vidzeme, and Latgale regional administrations of the State Police participated in the training.

The training course was implemented with the aim of increasing awareness of the access procedures to the Visa Information System (VIS) for law enforcement purposes, in order to ensure the prevention and detection of terrorism and other serious criminal offenses, as well as access to the European Union fingerprint database.

The training process promoted the strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation and ensured a unified understanding of biometric data exchange and utilization processes, which are essential for effective and high-quality mutual cooperation between services.

The implementation of EURODAC in Latvia is co-funded by the European Union.
