Safety in crisis situations - on the accessibility and development of shelters with the support of the European Regional Development Fund

Ministry of the Interior

Today's broadcast of "Spried ar Delfi" featured Kaspars Āboliņš, the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior.

The main topics of discussion were:

  • funding for the adaptation and equipping of shelters;

  • the accessibility and development of shelters in Latvia.

Answers to key questions were provided regarding:

  • what funding is currently available for the creation of shelters?

  • what work is planned in the near future?

  • what are the state and municipalities doing to provide residents with safer options to protect themselves in crisis situations?

As previously reported, €22.2 million – that is the amount of funding from the European Regional Development Fund intended for the establishment of third-category shelters in approximately 570 locations across Latvia.
