RSS starts paying support to farmers and sector businesses to cover loan interest

Ministry of Agriculture

The Rural Support Service (RSS) is starting to make payments under the support scheme for the partial repayment of loan interest, covering part of the interest paid by businesses in the sector – up to 4% per year. If the actual annual interest rate on a loan is below 4%, the support will be calculated based on the actual interest rate.

In 2026, EUR 22.83 million has been allocated for this support at the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture. The support is intended to partially cover interest payments on investment loans, financial leasing, working capital loans and factoring.

The support will be available to primary agricultural producers, agricultural and forestry service cooperatives, agricultural processing companies, as well as businesses in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors and operators engaged in the processing of their products. Support will be granted for interest actually paid during the period from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026.

This will enable businesses in the sectors concerned to recover part of the loan interest they have already paid, thereby reducing the costs associated with borrowing.

The 2026 support round was open from 1 to 31 July, during which time businesses in the sectors concerned could submit applications for the partial repayment of loan interest.
