In Talsi municipality, reconstruction has begun of the regional road Valdgale–Roja (P126), section from Valdemārpils to Rude (10.09–26.86 km). The works are planned to be completed in the autumn of 2026.
During construction on the nearly 17 km section, the structural layers of the road will be rebuilt and two layers of asphalt concrete will be laid. In a 200 m swampy section near the Mazroja culvert, concrete piles with an average depth of 7 m will be installed to strengthen the road structure.
Reconstruction will start from Rude side, with works also carried out on two bridges over the Roja river:
The Mazroja river culvert (12.52 km) will be reconstructed — the old culvert will be demolished and a new one built. A temporary culvert and bypass road will be constructed nearby.
To improve drainage, ditches will be excavated and cleaned throughout the section, culverts under the road and exits will be repaired or rebuilt. In Rude, a closed stormwater drainage system will also be constructed.
The road verge will be cleared of trees and shrubs.
To improve the safety of vulnerable road users, a 1.2 km sidewalk with 1.6 km of lighting will be built in Rude, and in Anuži a 200 m sidewalk with lighting will be constructed.
From Rude to Valdemārpils, all bus stops will also be renovated, along with road equipment, and finally, horizontal road markings will be applied.
The works are being carried out by SIA SC Grupa at a contract price of €13,526,434.74 (including VAT). Construction supervision is provided by SIA Firma L4, and the project author is SIA Projekts 3.
This section of regional road P126 is included in the road repair program developed within the framework of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development Administrative Territorial Reform, and the construction works are co-financed by the European Union Recovery Fund.
