Public Invited to Vote for Their Favourite in Latvia’s Most Energy-Efficient Building Competition

The organisers of the “Latvia’s Most Energy-Efficient Building 2026” competition invite the public to explore the 41 buildings entered in this year’s competition and vote for their favourite by 12:00 on 14 September. The building receiving the highest number of votes will win the competition’s People’s Choice Award.

Information about all buildings entered in this year’s competition is available on the competition website. Voting is open at energoefektivakaeka.lv and each IP address may cast one vote per day.

About the “Latvia’s Most Energy-Efficient Building” Competition

For the sixteenth consecutive year, the “Latvia’s Most Energy-Efficient Building” competition is being organised as part of the “Dzīvo siltāk” (“Live Warmer”) campaign.

The aim of the competition is to promote best practices in building energy efficiency and sustainability through the construction, renovation and reconstruction of energy-efficient buildings, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and raising public awareness of well-being, building thermal performance, indoor microclimate, as well as the importance of and opportunities for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in order to create high-quality and architecturally appealing living environments.

Applications for the “Latvia’s Most Energy-Efficient Building 2026” competition were accepted until 18 June 2026. A total of 41 buildings in four categories were entered in the competition. The award ceremony is scheduled for 17 September 2026.

The competition is organised by the Ministry of Economics, the Ministry of Climate and Energy, and the Latvian Association of Civil Engineers.

The competition rules were developed in cooperation with the partners of the “Dzīvo siltāk” information campaign: the Latvian Association of Property Managers and Administrators, the Latvian Window and Door Manufacturers Association, Riga Technical University, Rīga Stradiņš University, the Association of Building Materials Producers, the Latvian Association of Heat, Gas and Water Technology Engineers, the Latvian Building Contractors Partnership, the State Construction Control Bureau, the Latvian Association of Architects, the University of Latvia, the State Fire and Rescue Service, SIA “Publisko aktīvu pārvaldītājs Possessor”, and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency.

The competition is co-financed by European Union funds.

The competition is supported by SIA “Paroc”, SIA “Saint-Gobain Celtniecības produkti”, SIA “Rockwool”, the Development Finance Institution ALTUM, AS “Latvenergo”, VentSys, AS “Rīgas siltums”, AS “Gaso”, and AS “Sadales tīkls”.

The competition’s media partners are Būvinženieris magazine, Latvijas Avīze newspaper, and the construction industry websites abc.lv, archidea.lv and building.lv.
