Officers strengthen digital forensics and cybersecurity competences through training

Ministry of the Interior

Staff from the 3rd Unit of the State Police Cybercrime Enforcement Department participated in two types of specialized training sessions focused on enhancing professional competences in digital investigation. The training was implemented thanks to the European Union Internal Security Fund co-funded project, "Establishment of a Digital Forensics Data Processing Platform in the State Police."

One part of the training was dedicated to digital forensics, improving knowledge on the use of specialized software for electronic data retrieval and analysis. The second part of the training was conducted remotely and focused on cybersecurity, computer networks, virtual machine management, and the maintenance of the electronic data processing platform.

The training sessions are held in a remote format from August 2025 until the end of the project, ensuring a flexible and targeted learning process. Participation in such training strengthens the professional capacity of the State Police in handling digital evidence and information systems, as well as enhances the institution's readiness to respond to contemporary digital security challenges.

Project No. VP/IDF/2024/7, "Establishment of a Digital Forensics Data Processing Platform in the State Police," is implemented within the framework of the Internal Security Fund 2021–2027 planning period, with the Ministry of the Interior as the Managing Authority in Latvia.
