Moldovan border guards strengthen skills in Latvia with EU support

Ministry of the Interior

From May 20 to 28, 2025, six officials from the General Inspectorate of Border Police of the Republic of Moldova visited the State Border Guard's Ventspils Board. The visit took place in accordance with the activity plan of the project "Strengthening the Capacity of the General Inspectorate of Border Police of the Republic of Moldova in 'Green' and 'Blue' Border Control (LatMoldova)".

This project is being implemented by the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia, the General Inspectorate of Border Police of the Republic of Moldova, and the State Border Guard College. The goal of the visit was to train the members of the first Moldovan Border Police inspection group.

During the training, representatives of the Moldovan Border Police gained specific knowledge and strengthened practical skills in conducting vessel control (inspection) procedures as part of a group.

The theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired during the visit will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Moldovan Border Police personnel to perform specific border control tasks, including in high-risk conditions.

This project will contribute to the implementation of the EU's security strategy and protect fundamental rights and European values.
