Latvian special task units strengthen operational response and inter-agency coordination with EU funds support

On December 5, 2025, the State Police of Latvia organized tactical demonstrations to reinforce cooperation skills between the State Police Counter-Terrorism Unit OMEGA, the State Police Special Tasks Battalion (SUB), and the State Border Guard Special Operations Service "SIGMA."

The participants demonstrated the practicalities of coordination, operational maneuvers, and joint action in complex, high-risk situations.

The event was held under project No. VP/IDF/2024/5, “Strengthening the Response Mobility and Counter-Terrorism Capabilities of the State Police by Establishing a Practical Training Centre.” This project is implemented within the framework of the Internal Security Fund 2021–2027 planning period, with the Ministry of the Interior as the Managing Authority in Latvia.
