Latvia–Lithuania project

Latvia–Lithuania project "MassMovement" for public safety and crisis response launched with Interreg support

Ministry of the Interior

On Monday, April 20, the kick-off meeting for the MassMovement (LL-00103) project took place. The meeting brought together project partners and team members from Latvia and Lithuania, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development.

The project places a strong emphasis on the public — focusing on informing citizens, raising awareness, and developing practical skills. Through information campaigns, training sessions, and practical scenarios, both individual and community resilience will be strengthened, ensuring people know how to act and feel safer during crisis situations.

Practical evacuation drills are also planned within the project framework, with partners already preparing for the first exercises in the summer of 2026. These drills will test inter-institutional cooperation and evaluate evacuation processes under realistic conditions, ensuring that, if necessary, evacuations are organized, timely, and effective.

During the meeting, participants discussed the project's key results, the upcoming activity plan, partner roles, as well as communication and community engagement strategies.

All project activities are funded by the European Union Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Programme 2021–2027.
